Parkhill Library
began as a Mechanic’s Institute late in 1873. Ninety persons
subscribed at a charge of $1 each. “Eccles & Potter” consented
to keep the library in their store. In December 1897 it was
organized as a free public library and operated from one of the
rooms in the Town Hall.
The present
library building was erected in 1914 and opened July 28, 1915,
on land donated by the Town of Parkhill. It was financed
by a Carnegie grant, and is currently the only Carnegie library
still open as a branch in the Middlesex County library system.
