Special Services

Books - by - Mail

For those who are unable to travel to one of our branches,
Middlesex County Library offers a book delivery service by mail.
Books are mailed out postage paid, and return postage paid. Our
staff select books based on the patron's requested preferences.
Specific authors and titles or Large Print material can be requested.

Large Print Books

Our large print collection is qualified to meet the needs of those
seeking these easier-on-the-eyes books. Many are in paperback
format for easier handling. All of our branches have large print
collections in a wide variety of genres including:

  • Western
  • Mystery
  • Romance
  • Biography
  • Non-fiction
  • Inspirational
  • Humor
  • Adventure
  • and more

Books printed in large type can be helpful to many people who have difficulty reading normal size print for any reason (such as age or vision impairment) or some may simply like to read large print. You can place a hold for specific Large Print titles and have them sent to your local branch.

Talking Books

Talking books are reserved for those with a visual or other impairment
that keeps them from reading traditional print material. Our collection
includes both adults and children's titles on cassette tapes. Because
of the copyright regulations of Talking Books, a medical certificate
stating that the patron is unable to use regular print books is required.

There are just so many opportunities to enjoy a good talking book.

If you would like to listen to audio books but don't qualify for the
Talking Book service please try our downloadable audio book
collection.

Nursing Home Deposits

Nursing Homes and Adult Day Centres throughout Middlesex County
are able to provide their residents with books to read through the
Nursing Home Deposit service. A collection of fiction and non-fiction
(including large print) of approximately 50 specially selected titles are
delivered and exchanged at these nursing homes six times a year.
